If you’re looking to invest in the UK, it’s always good to feel that you’ve found the right places to store and grow your money. Luckily, there are five investments that you can always rely on because they will never do you wrong. They are…

1. Collectibles
If you love collecting coins, old-fashioned cars, antiques and more, you might consider this as an investment option. Sometimes, it takes a while for the collectibles to gain a great deal of value, but since they rarely lose value, you are likely to get your hands on some good investments that won’t do you wrong.

2. Government Bonds and Securities
Another option to consider is government bonds and securities because they are safe investments backed by your local or national government. Also, you can take advantage of tax exceptions and risk-free investment channel that make it easier for your money to grow.

3. Property Investment
If you like to purchase and sell property then you could consider this as an investment. By using the money that you make from selling a property, you are able to then earn more as you continue the process. As long as you know how to participate in this process, it’ll never do you wrong.

4. Invest in Online Domain
You could also consider buying a hot domain name that has the potential for big demand down the line. This type of investment has earned some domain buyers thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. With it being such a cheap investment, it’s hard to go wrong by taking this route.

5. Stock Markets
While this can sometimes be viewed as a very challenging investment option because it requires a lot of research, it is actually a reliable option if you learn to think of it as a long-term investment. Take time to understand the stock market (including its peak season) and how it works and you could grow more money than you think.
It’s always wonderful to find an investment that you think can earn you money. But it’s even more satisfying when you find investments that’ll never do you wrong.

Successful investing requires knowledge, time and commitment, discipline and patience, and the ability to develop an investment strategy that is compatible with your personality.

Knowledge

Each individual must consider what he knows when planning an investment strategy. Recognizing your current level of knowledge, and how you will acquire the additional wisdom you need, are all-important factors.

Time and commitment

How much time are you willing to spend monitoring your portfolio? This is a critical question. An individual’s investment plan should be based on his level of interest in ensuring personal financial success. The more diversified a portfolio is, and the more complex your strategy, the more time you will need. To be successful, an investor mush map out a strategy that carefully matches his own personality and level of commitment.

Discipline

Although many investors start with an approach that will work for them, the ability to maintain discipline eludes far too many people. This is caused by a variety of psychological issues, led by fear and greed, that tend to dominate predetermined financial strategies. During various stages of a stock market, different investment styles will work better than others. Sometimes a value approach will be in favor. Other times a growth or momentum style to accommodate the market.

Patience

The last trait for successful investing is patience. Without it, your returns will be more limited. Warren Buffett reminds us that it takes nine months for a woman to deliver a baby. Investments usually take more time to work out than most people consider. Once you plan an investment strategy that complements your personality, managing a portfolio should be simple. The challenge will be to follow the game plan and to remain disciplined.

An investor who establishes varying time frames for holding different types of securities will be much less inclined to lose patience in well researched ideas. This type of analysis will also assist the investor from “holding too long,” while watching his momentum idea fall out of favor and create large losses.

There is a harsh fact about reality. The good job that you have may not last your entire life or career. The stability of the job may change and the particulars about it may change it to one that is completely undesirable. You must think ahead and plan on making your money work for you. No matter how much you have, you must plan on saving at least three months salary for a rainy day. Additionally you must set aside a proportion of your salary to invest now in well performing businesses on the stock exchange, as well as through available mutual funds which have a superior performance and you should consider investing in real estate. Particularly you should consider real estate that you can fix up for rental properties.

Stock investment on the internet in one such new technological avenue. Stock brokers have understood long before the public the great advantage that the speed of the internet gave them in financial matters. They offer to the public the advantage of internet sales and buying of company stocks and mutual funds. At least seven years ago the stock market utilized proprietary computers, intranets, wide area networks (WANS) to manage and predict the public sales and purchases of commodities, stocks, and bonds. The market place is a very competitive place. The government and the stock market board exist to provide a fair market where no one person or block of investors have a larger influence than any other. Prior to the internet and the 21st century only large blocks of investors or extremely wealthy ones could purchase stocks and commodities as an investment. This is because they were limited to how small or large a package of stock could be sold. When banks or other groups of investors, retired math teachers, became involved then investment packages could be subdivided smaller. Hence more people could afford to invest their surplus cash into more risky but profitable ventures. The invention of the telegraph allowed the transfer of information at the speed of light. After this the invention of the Teletype maintained the technological edge into most of the 20th century. when the age of the personal computer arrived then financier Mr.Bloomberg advanced both the electronic management of stock but provided the pioneer work to facilitate the inclusion of the internet into the confines of Wall Street.

You can acquire attractive properties which require very little in the way of repair. Some only need cleaning and painting to become profitable rentals. Today in Tulsa, Oklahoma there is a vast excess of available homes which have become available. These are offered by banks, mortgage investment firms, and real estate agencies. On the other hand the reason why these are available should be mentioned. The city of Tulsa has been through a devastating financial depression which began shortly after major internet companies and communications groups went bankrupt. This led to the loss of over 75,000 technical jobs and over $250,000,000 in lost revenues from income and sales taxes. These jobs have not be replaced but have been out sourced to off shore resources. I remember walking several miles along the edge of several housing divisions which were marked by the rarity of an occupied house. Most were marked by the “For Sale” signs and tall unmown grass. There are some real bargains here in Tulsa for those with good salaried jobs! These can become a smart investment for you which has stability and that can increase in profitability over the years.

Investing in realty is a safer option than buying a share

As BSF Sensex danced furiously, many questions were raised as to what are the safe and less volatile options for investments. Questions were also asked whether the real estate market, which has witnessed potential jump in past couple of years, would undergo some kind of correction.

Some of the large-cap real estate stocks such as Mahindra Gesco and Ansal Properties fell by almost 50 percent from their peak levels. Other stocks like Unitech and Lok Housing did not fall much since they hit the filter on 5 percent movement.

Some industry players feel that there are pocket of tier 2 and tier 3 cities in north India, which have seen massive escalation of price over the last six to twelve months, which may not be sustainable in the long run. Whether the stock market meltdown triggers a correction in these markets remains to be seen.

On the whole, rising real estate prices may take a breather in certain areas but there will be no holding them back.

Consultancy firm Cushman&Wakefield study says Urban India alone requires 12 million housing units with scope for 400 townships in 5 years across 30-35 cities, each with five lakh population.

Prices of homes in India hqave on average tripled in the last two years and will probably expand fourfold in the next three to four years.

In fact, Real Estate benefits in either case whether the sensex booms or tumbles. The profits booked in scripts are invested in real estate as a safe investment and when the stock tumble, investments are diverted to real estate market to square off losses.

Great Profits Can Be Made From Forex And Stocks And Shares

Forex is more risky than the stock market but nearly 12,500,000 people in the United States today own common stock.

This fact, so briefly stated, is of first-rank importance. For it summarizes one of the profound and far-reaching shifts in American social and economic life in the twentieth century. Never before in our history have so many of us owned so much of the nation’s industrial wealth, so much of its productive capacity, so much of its profit potential.

In the minds of most, the stock market was a vast trap for the unwary. Like all public images, this was inexact, but not without a basis in reason. Time and again in the tumultuous capital expansion of the nation that began after the Civil War, small investors had been whipsawed in the market struggles of the tycoons, and panics and depressions had shrivelled their bright dreams of prosperity. Sober citizens were appalled by the insanity of the rampant speculation of the Twenties. Everybody knew someone who had been scorched in the holocaust of the Crash, and those who were not wiped out were nonetheless inclined to blame Wall Street for the depression which followed.

For most people, capital investment meant buying a home. If there was anything left over, it went into insurance and the savings bank.

The myth died slowly. Recovery from the depression consumed most of the Thirties. The Second World War lasted until the middle Forties. Throughout this period, the stock market continued to do business at the old stand, but at a greatly reduced volume. Reflecting the times, it pulled itself back uphill to a respectable peak in 1936, considerably short of the 1929 summit, but still the highest point since the Crash. It dropped sharply in the 1937 recession, staggered up and down uncertainly for several years, and then retreated under the impact of the war. From 1942 on, however, despite occasional setbacks such as the 1957 recession, the trend has been steadily upward.

The nation emerged from the war hardly conscious of how greatly the basic economy had changed. Production for war had forced a gigantic expansion of industrial plant, much of it with the aid of Government funds. High tax rates and controlled profits encouraged further investment in facilities. And liberal post-war settlements enabled corporations to buy Government-built plants cheaply or to depreciate them quickly, thereby reducing or eliminating what might otherwise have been a burden of long-term debt. The net result was a stupendous increase in the book valuein the fundamental assetsof a great number of companies.

Furthermore, consumer wants were ravenous. Having gone without for five years, Americans were ready to buy everything in sight. Industry, untouched by so much as a single enemy bomb, was able to convert swiftly to peacetime production. The boom began. New automobiles, new houses, new electrical appliances began to fill up the empty spaces in American lives. And with these familiar, much-missed items came new ones, virtually undreamed of before the war: television, hi-fi, sports cars, antibiotics, tranquilizers, frozen foods, synthetic fibbers and fabrics, plastics, electronics, andfor the on-rushing futurepeacefully applied atomic energy. Radio Corporation of America announced that four-fifths of its current sales volume derived from products that were non existent a decade before. By the Fifties, economists were estimating that more than a third of the nation’s gross national productthe total value of all its goods and serviceswas due to research and development of the past ten years.

Many elements have combined to bring this about. Until the end of World War II in 1945, stock ownership was for all practical purposes the privilege of the well to do. Only the man of wealth could afford to buy stock in significant amounts. Only the man with surplus funds could afford to ride out market slumps and the temporary loss of income and value. And only the few initiates were really educated and informed about the behaviour of markets and the ground rules of investment.

Now the Forex is just as accessible to ordinary investors just as stocks and shares are to investors.

It is essential to get some good Forex software from the beginning to succeed with Forex trading.

Investors Benjamin Graham and Warren Buffett have made unbelievable fortunes through long-term, value investing.

Making money in the stock market can be dependent on your willingness to invest in long-term investments or buying only undervalued stocks. With a margin of safety on these stocks you will have a little peace of mind and if you are like Warren Buffett, you too may well be able to enjoy an average 22% annual gain. Even more enticing if you know that that’s his record over the last 39 years!

Tremendous results like this are not easily duplicated in the short term or without great experience. With some work and time being on your side it is possible to be the next Warren, but even more possible and likely is for you to become a major player on the investment scene.

No seriously, you can.

The S&P 500s average long term result is a return of about 11%. Now if you aimed to beat that consistently, that would mean that you are doing very well indeed, almost well enough to live a very comfortable, relaxed existence.

For example – you have $3,000 a year that you can invest purely for your future retirement.

Why are you screaming at $3,000 a year? That’s only $250.00 a month! Come on – you want to retire, don’t you?

Well, invest that in a tax-efficient retirement account that compounds interest, hitting the average 11% at least. Now have a look at your account in twenty years time and you’ll find that you have an extra $178,000, thanks to compound interest – a total of $238,000.

The key to the game is not so much the size of the financial investment that you are making as it is the way that you use it.

Starting young and using the power of compound interest can make you a retirement millionaire in less time than you could ever have imagined. Some investors will lovingly call using compound interest simply using the force while others simply call you an idiot for not using it. If you are one of the ones with the foresight to start investing now, you will be one of the ones with the ability to brag about the general comfort of your retirement.

Warren Buffett and Benjamin Graham arent geniuses or once-in-a-lifetime lucky dogs; they are a few guys who used their money to make money. By putting in everything later in life you may make a solid return, by putting in a solid amount early in life, you may make everything.

The term hot stocks can be wildly misleading; for those who are just beginning their foray into the world of investment, looking for hot stocks could mean trying to find those stocks that will pay off in dividends in the short term. But what uneducated investors dont realize is that hot stocks mean much more than instant gratification.

Instead hot stocks could be defined as those stocks that may require patience to realize their full potential. Be wary of those stocks that rise in value dramatically. The fall could be just as dramatic. Hot stocks may be considered hot because of their significant earnings but volatility could be an indication of an unstable product.

First and foremost when it comes to hot stocks do your research. Learn as much as you possibly can about the stock market and its bevy of indicators. Research the particular hot stock in which you are interested and leave no stone unturned. A lack of comprehensive research could spell disaster further down the road.

The informational resources for hot stocks can be found online. The Internet has become a viable environment for trading; research hot stocks to learn their current worth and future predictions.

Take advantage of online forums where traders share their experiences. You may find many a helpful hint on how to go about trading hot stocks. Youll often find a number of online traders willing to offer advice about online trading.

Additionally, in an effort to understand the complexities of hot stocks, take some professional courses to help you navigate this new world. Youll be best served by getting the advice of professionals. Take what you need to learn the most you can about this complicated arena.

Most importantly, dont get in over your head. If you are a novice at trading then keep your activity simple and conservative. Hot stocks in an industry about which you know very little will only serve to frustrate and confuse you in the future. Instead, choose those hot stocks that are available within industries in which you have a comfortable level of familiarity.

Trading hot stocks can be exciting but it can also be unnerving. Take the time to conduct thorough research on any hot stocks and in trading in general. Some effort now will serve you well for years to come as you continue to navigate the stock market.

Investment requires prudence. Whether the amount is small or big, you need to have complete information about the place or field where you are going to invest it. Investment is most often made with a purpose to accrue good returns in future. Investment is like a source of income where initially you put in some capital and expect it to multiply or boom in the near future. There are various types of investments nowadays and different strategies are associated with them. Investment can be in the field of property, land etc., in the stock market, in bank in the form of fixed deposits, in trusts and insurance policies.

When you move out to invest say for instance in property, the strategy of buy for low and sale for high prevails. In the language of investment this is called the arbitrage. What you require first of all is a perfect idea of the fluctuating market. When the market value is low, make as many purchases as possible. When the market as you assessed picks up pace, sell whatever you purchased at simply double the price. This profit however is not possible without a vigilant study of the market. An investor who has scrutinized the market from top to bottom predicts the highs and lows of market and makes purchases much before the onset of the profit season.

Arbitrageurs are very smart nowadays. In order to incur huge benefits, they even go about purchasing some very archaic piece of furniture or property from a low price market, invest a few more bucks in its renovation and then sell it in an expensive market or put it up at auction on the internet.

There are times when massive investments are being made in one area, this is known as the market bubble. Take for example, if a piece of land in a specific area is inviting too many buyers and that too with unbeatable profit, there is a horde of investors to purchase land in that area and sell it for the maximum possible. Similar is the case with the stocks of a company that is giving brilliant dividends to its stock holders, if the company lowers even a single dollar on its stock, multitude of people gratify their desire to receive excellent gains later.

Related to this is the value investment. Here the investor estimates the value of the company in the form of its returns. If a company has a good record with its shareholders and its shares are relatively at a lower price in the market, the investor will purchase maximum shares as possible since he is confident of the companys value. The investors basically peep through what is visible in this case. Many companies only flaunt to be successful in the market but actually they have been charged with many illicit proceedings. While there are companies that make a slow and simple start and scale new heights gradually. The investors are in search of these types of companies, the ones that are not feigning to be great.
An insight into the actual situation of the company prompts the investor to make judicious investments.

The risk factor is always lurking behind these investments. It could be a case that the buy low and sell high strategy does not work, that the market does not soar high as forecasted. In this case huge losses can meet your investments. It can also be a possibility that the stocks of the company that is deemed to be performing well, do not meet the expected surge in price or that the company rather than progressing starts retreating. So, the risks cannot be ignored at any cost and it is also a fact that the long term predictions about the market, company etc. might turn out to be true, short term ups and downs are reasonably difficult to foretell. So the financial advisors mostly speak the lingo of long term investments so as to ignore the short term impediments.

It is advised to take guidance from a good financial advisor before making any investment. For a colossal loss in investment is potent enough to ruin the entire life of the investor.

There are risks involved in all investing. The skill of investing is knowing which risks are worth taking, and which should be avoided. Finding and knowing which risks to take is the essence of good investing and the whole reason that investments can pay such a high reward. It cannot be done without careful research and analysis. You must give yourself every chance to make the right decision. Investing without carrying out sufficient research is like playing roulette. You are giving yourself virtually no chance of covering your investments and avoiding disaster.

There are certain steps you will have to take in order to give yourself a fighting chance of being a successful investor. If you are considering investing in company shares on the stock market, then you should be aware that all publicly traded companies must provide investors and potential investors with access to company financial data. This data is generally available from the company so if you are considering buying into a company, then get access to this information and satisfy yourself that the company is in a good financial state before parting with any money.

Be Aware

If you do research a company, and are taking a look at its financial position, then you should look back two to three years into the past. You probably dont need to go back further than this but if you go back less, there may be important trends in the finances that you will miss. Take special note of the quarterly statements and the revenue and earnings per share.

You should be trying to identify trends in certain figures. While these are no guarantee of what might happen In the future it is undeniable that an upward trend in revenue and profits will be a positive sign to look out for.

Once you have satisfied yourself with the basic financials of the company and that the prospects of making good profits into the future are favourable you will be in a position to consider putting money into the share. There is an ongoing debate over whether its preferable to buy shares that will increase in value, or shares that pay good dividends and the answer to this question must always lie with the individual investor. What must be remembered however is that there is little point in chasing dividends. This refers to the practice of buying a share just before a dividend is expected to be announced. The price of the share will already have taken the dividend into account so you will be paying for it in any case.

Weve all been frustrated in the stock market before, havent we?

Did you remember the time when you identified a really good stock with really good news on its heels and rallying strong? However, just a couple of days after you buy shares of that company, it pulls back and you incurred a loss? Even worse when you used futures on that stock instead?

Didnt it make you wonder why such strong stocks pull back so strongly? In fact, why does stock markets even pullback as a whole?

There is an explanation to this and it is what we refer to in economics as the Law of Diminishing Marginal Utility. The Law of Diminishing Marginal Utility states that as consumption of something increases, the satisfaction (marginal utility) of having that something decreases as every unit of that same thing is given to that same person.

Too abstract? Well, it really means in layman terms that the more of something a person have, the least the satisfaction in that thing in question. Have you ever been to a buffet? Can you remember the satisfaction of that first taste of food after having prepared for this by starving for the day? However, can you remember how less satisfied you feel with every new plate of food until you can no longer derive any satisfaction from eating?

Thats the exact same thing happening in the stock market.

The satisfaction of a profit diminishes as more and more profit is made, to be replaced by the fear of losing the profits already made. It will come a point in time when the satisfaction of more profits becomes zero to be totally consumed by the fear of losing the profits that was already made. At that point onwards, investors start taking profit by selling and thus a pullback in price. That point seems unusually correlated amongst human beings and once the first sight of profit taking occurs, the rest succumbs to their fears too and sell off.

Did you remember the first time you made a profit in the stock market? Did you remember how it felt when the figures turned green in your trading account for the very first time? You were elated, werent you? You wanted more profits, didnt you? However, did you remember how more and more uncertain you became as the profits grew higher and higher? Did you ask yourself if you should continue to hold on and bet for more profits or simply get out while the going is good? Did it come a point where your fear of losing that profit totally consumed any satisfaction derived from have more possible profits? What did you do then?

Well, we all know that now, dont we?

So, the Law Of Diminishing Marginal Utility made certain that no stock nor market go up ceaselessly so nobody, but the most disciplined and patient investors could make a consistent profit. Are you that kind of disciplined and patient investor?
